They're attempting to intimidate people into self-deporting before the courts can give an opinion.

They're banking on most people choosing flight over fight when threatened with the prospect of being deported to countries they're not even from, without due process.

They've already primed this by sending alleged gang members to a scary prison in El Salvador.

Many foreign students would rather go back to their countries of origin than get thrown in a gang prison in Central America, and they've already seen it happen to people who haven't been convicted.

This is a HUGE problem.

It's not just about the people who've already been targeted. The persecution will cascade through larger and larger groups of "othered" people until we are all living in constant fear of saying or doing the wrong thing. Then the administration has absolute control because there's no safe place, in media or in person, to disagree.
