wealthiest member of Congress.

Multiple outlets and projection tools place Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., as the richest member of Congress. The exact extent of his wealth is widely contested and frequently changing. Quiver Quantitative places Scott’s net worth at $549.91 million, with Investopedia agreeing with the company’s tracker.

However, back in June 2024, Finbold reported that his assets range from about $271 million to $808 million, according to the 2023 financial disclosure report. Finbold claimed that Scott has no liabilities, so his net worth would be somewhere between those two numbers.

The Republican senator was previously the governor of Florida between 2011 and 2019. His private sector gains come from co-founding both HCA Healthcare in 1988 and Solantic in 2001. During his time as HCA’s chief executive, the company was convicted of 14 felonies for defrauding Medicare, Medicaid and federal programs.

The company’s board of directors forced Scott to resign in 1997, though Britannica reports he received “a generous retirement package consisting of approximately $10 million in cash and $300 million in company stock.”
