6. We never shopped at walmart until it was the only place left

I had only ever been to 2 walmarts before 2005: A former Hypermart USA (way too big), and an old very small Discount City in Arkansas.
We always went to ALCO, bEST, Service Merchandise, Kmart, Roses, or Hills (where the toys are).
I hope Roses returns here after buying Big Lots.
