Trump wants individuals, companies, entire industries and even countries to come begging for exemptions. Trump wants to be in that position, sitting there on his throne and deciding if they are loyal and flattering enough to him to deserve a reprieve from the King, who gets rewarded and who gets punished. I think that's how he sees it and regardless of how much damage is done, it will be personally worth it to him.

In the next few weeks I bet we see this playing out and it will be sickening.
