This rings true to me. He outlines a simple solution that was standard operating procedure when I was in college in the 80's and can be again. Heck, until a couple of years ago when I retired, I had my second graders write essays in paragraph form on tests in "their best printing". The paragraph formal is part of the curriculum of second grade, complete with topic sentence and between three to five supporting sentences. This forced them to organize their thoughts and stick to the topic and really enforced the concept. So, basically what I am saying is that if second graders can do it.....
