Father of Abundant Life Christian School shooter arrested, charged [View all]

MADISON (WKOW) -- The father of the girl police say opened fire at Abundant Life Christian School in December 2024, killing a staff member and fellow student and hurting six others, has been criminally charged.

Online court records show prosecutors charged Jeffrey Rupnow, 42, of Madison with two counts of intentionally selling a dangerous weapon to a child and contributing to the delinquency of a child. All three charges are felonies.

A Madison police spokesperson said officers arrested Rupnow early Thursday morning without incident. Police are expected to release more information about the investigation and arrest at a 3 p.m. news conference. 27 News will livestream that news conference, which can be seen in the video player above.
