(86,780 posts)47. Well, all I know is that the word "catholic" means "universal."
Or at least that's how I remember it from Catholic school more than 50 years ago. I think that's always been the goal, although there's been more than enough of a superiority complex from some Catholic corners. And if we're to believe that we follow Jesus, too many of us forget that Jesus was humble, and embodied humility as the great virtue that it is.
