Some who are so invested in the Palestine issue rejected Democrats in large numbers just on that one issue alone. So they basically traded it all just to show their defiance on one issue, and now look what they got as their "reward".

I think you hit on something with this. These people might believe that demonstrating the importance of their one issue by not voting democratic, they perhaps believe that this will punish leadership into taking their position more seriously in the future, “ or else’
