It was so painful to be listening to BBC World Service and hear the anchors (or "presenters" in the UK) discussing the trip to Saudi Arabia, the free airplane... The BBC is very proper and mannered when it reports news, but you could almost hear the derision and contempt and bewilderment. And this is programming, as everyone knows, generated mostly out of London, our key partners during WW II. We've just celebrated the 80th year anniversary of the end of that war. They've played some clips of Winston Churchill. This is what we've ended up with. It's an abomination.
