15. I think he needs to be elected to something other

Than mayor of a small town. Had he been a Secretary of State (or other prestigious cabinet position), I’d say he should consider a run. Former secretary of transportation for one term is going to be hard sell for many, even aside from obvious homophobia he would face.

He should run for governor or senator of Michigan and win. Showing he could win statewide office in a crucial swing state would go a long way in the primaries convincing a democratic electorate that is nervous about venturing too far away from going with a “safe white boy”. This fear is understandable.

It’s too much of a gamble nominating him to be president knowing the electorate we have.
