It's possible that Shitstain Vance went with José because it's "just some Hispanic name," but I'm betting that Vance deliberately chose it to liken Senator Padilla to convicted terrorist Abdullah al-Muhajir aka José Padilla.

So rather than the casual, default racism endemic among MAGAts and KKKonservatives in general, it seems like a straightforward attempt to smear by name association.

(Sorry if this is obvious and if others have already pointed it out, but I haven't really seen it explicitly stated yet.)
