CONGRESSMAN JOSH GOTTHEIMER

“Tonight, the United States took critical and decisive action to protect America, and freedom and democracy at home and around the world — stopping Iran’s nuclear program in its tracks.

“Since 1979, the Iranian regime has been openly committed to the destruction of the United States of America — what they call the ‘Great Satan.’

“In support of that goal, Iran, the world’s leading sponsor of terror, has built a global network of terrorist proxies — including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis — and has relentlessly pursued a nuclear weapon. They have killed and injured scores of American civilians, targeted our service members, and attacked our key democratic allies, including Israel.

“According to the IAEA, and as recently as last week, Iran has repeatedly violated their nuclear nonproliferation obligations. Their Fordow nuclear facility was key to the success of their nuclear program. Thanks to American might and leadership, it now sits in ruin.

“The destruction of Iran’s nuclear program is essential to ultimate peace in the Middle East. This is not a Democratic or Republican issue — dealing with the Iranian threat is central to America’s national security. The world is safer because of the actions of our brave service members. I’m praying for the safety of our service members in the region.”

JOHN FETTERMAN

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) said on Monday he thinks Democrats are wrong to oppose the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities but said it wouldn’t be the first time he disagreed with the party consensus on a controversial issue.

In an interview on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Fetterman said he expects some members of his party to be opposed to the U.S. strikes on Iran.

“There’s going to be a lot of people in my party that are going to disagree with the strike in Iran, and I actually support that,” Fetterman said about the Iranian strikes. “I’ve been always calling for that thing. I think it was entirely appropriate.”
