has been demonized by the Rs over decades sufficiently so that it is equated by many with USSR style communism. Definitely a hurdle ... but perhaps and hopefully not invincible. I do think there is value in embracing the term socialism proudly and openly as opposed to shunning and shrinking away from it. All public services and goods are essentially socialism. That's not a complex notion.
