If you’ve bought brown organic or cage-free eggs recently, it’s worth checking the carton — even if the sell-by date has passed. Look for:

Plant codes: P-6562 or CA5330

Julian dates: 032 through 126

Retailers: Walmart, Safeway, Raley’s, Ralphs, Smart & Final, Save Mart, FoodMaxx, Food 4 Less, Lucky

If your eggs match, don’t eat them. Return them to the store for a refund or dispose of them safely. And be sure to sanitize any surfaces or utensils that may have come into contact with raw egg.
