But according to my wife (who's dealt with clients on suicide watches), those watches are surprisingly easy to circumvent. Much depends on how much those involved in the watch actually care.

I fully agree that a more detailed investigation is needed. And if there was a conspiracy, those behind it should be held accountable. But I'm not holding my breath that such a conspiracy will be discovered.
