On paper, Beshear looks like an attractive candidate, but he has the following things against him - none of which I think are deal-breakers: an early lack of name recognition, he most likely won't carry his own state or his entire region in the electoral college, and his list of accomplishments is pretty thin because his power is severely limited by Republican super-majorities in the state legislature.
