And it has little to do with Trump. They were invested because they have spent years building this up into some legendary catch all for liberals. They've been talking about this report non stop since the election last Fall, finally the world was going to get a look at how many Democrats were pedophiles, and they were sure it was going to be thousands of prominent Dems. This was going to be the culmination of years and years of conspiracy theories being proven true. They are sure Trump turned Epstein in the minute he found out he was a creep. They are sure the Clintons, Chuck Schemer, Nancy, Joe Biden and all other prominent Dems are implicated dead to rights.

They really want it to come out, the fact it isn't going to be released means the reports just don't contain what they'd hoped. Now I have no hopes it will be a deal breaker for them, it won't be, they're too invested in the other awful things happening in this country. But it's just like withholding of a huge reward they've been anticipating for years.
