They brought out a minister to answer media questions. Journalists from various new outlets asked questions and, after a CBC journalist asked a particular question, an "aide" standing next to the minister took over the microphone and tried to shut things down. "The minister has run out of time" or some such nonsense, and they started heading for the exit.

The press wasn't having any of it. They actually rushed the minister and corralled him back to the podium, insisting that he remain until all of their questions were answered. The minister was ashen-faced but they wouldn't let him go and were very demanding that he give meaningful and responsive answers.

There used to be a video on Youtube but I can't find it anymore. The difference between the US and Canadian media was stark then as now, just not so bad. As we all saw last weekend, the European press doesn't cower in fear either.
