It's difficult to engage when you are not clear. Is it that being Guatemalan is disquieting? I understand exactly what she said and how it sounds. Wouldn't have been my choice of words, either. But, I doubt that she is declaring allegiance to Guatemala over the US. I don't think that pride in ancestors is enough to deport an American citizen.

And, I guess I come from a time when citizens were discovering their "roots" and proudly declaring themselves this or that. It is okay to be Guatemalan, even if you have to flee to avoid death. Still a Guatemalan! And she's a citizen here. That's just her heritage.

Remember "African--American?" Remember "Mexican--American?" These terms are just a couple of examples. This has fallen out of favor, like fads go. But, it doesn't hurt in any way, as long as your head is screwed on straight. Which, Repub heads never seem to be lately.

The woman was working. Repubs would love to knock her down. Nice try. Tell them to deport the Orange Pedo--American first.
