In reply to the discussion: Texas Dems throw in the towel and grant Repubs redistricting victory by returning home [View all]walkingman
(10,733 posts)State Reps all have full time jobs and families so it just doesn't seem feasible. As far as not getting re-elected....I think that would be the worst thing that could happen. As I said, the only way that Texas will ever change, if it ever does, is not to punish politicians for their efforts but to rally behind them for doing this.
As this mess, and it is a mess, goes around the nation with other RED and Blue states doing likewise in order to counter Abbott's efforts at the request of Trump will only lead to more and more political discourse. I fear people will be so exhausted by 2028 that many will just say "Fuck it" and that is the opening that these facists are hoping for.
I know we cannot change the past but by the Dems allowing Trump to be re-elected in '24 it could possibly be a very costly mistake. I know so far, in just the last 6 months, our nation has changed and continues to change beyond anything I have ever seen or even imagined.
I do understand your frustration because I feel the same and I wish their was a magic wand to fix it. ☮
