(22,085 posts)I wouldn't have any sympathy if I knew for a fact that she voted for Trump knowing that something like this might happen. But I'm pretty sure that's not the case. I think she drank the kool-aid and fell for his promises that he was going to make things all better. That was a dumb thing to do, but she's just one among millions.
Of course, every citizen has the responsibility to fully inform themselves before voting, at least in theory. But a lot of people don't do that, and that syndrome is not limited to MAGA. It sucks, but I think starvation is a pretty harsh penalty for being a low information voter.
In fact, I don't think anyone deserves to starve. Even people convicted of heinous crimes get 3 meals a day, and starving them would quickly (and rightly) be ruled cruel and unusual punishment. As frustrated as I am with MAGA and other Republican voters, I don't wish starvation on anyone.
