... Trump suggested Tuesday that the rising cost of living in the United States is a "fake narrative" that is being pushed by Democrats.

"I inherited the worst inflation in history," Trump said during his Cabinet meeting. "There was no affordability. Nobody could afford anything. The prices were massively high."

Trump praised his administration for bringing prices down, even as millions of Americans continue to struggle to afford housing and grocery prices remain high.

"The word 'affordability' is a con job by the Democrats," Trump said.
