After looking deeper, I also found this:
Traditional Olympic events were primarily athletic. Nero, who considered himself a great artist, demanded the addition of musical, singing, poetry, and acting contests to the program, which were his preferred disciplines.
Nero ensured his success through bribery and intimidation of the judges, who feared repercussions if they did not award him the victory. He reportedly won over 1,800 prizes from various Greek festivals during his tour.
