(4,459 posts)than he offers yet it is still here. It IS competing with tech developments. It is always pushed forward in order to compete. Sync sound was developed 20 years before The Jazz Singer but there was no reason to adopt it until radio started to take away film audiences. Wide screen was done in 1897. 70mm was done in 1928 but neither of those was adopted until the 1950s or so.
He sets a time limit of 5 years but theater revenue has increased recently. And more theaters are being adopted by non-profits which don't need the kind of revenue that chains do. I'm confident that movie theaters will be operating in 2030. This is our brand new "old" facade:
