“Forty thousand Churchills can't be wrong.” – Ringo Starr

Two of my sisters – one a member of this community, the other a “lurker” – have recently contacted me elsewhere with Beatles related messages. For example, about some documentaries that are currently available on a source I do not pay for, but have access to. For our generation, the Beatles were always a big part of the holiday season.

Watching the Beatles, I went back in time to when the movie “Yellow Submarine” was released. Of course, the Beatles themselves had little to do with its production …... but they were the inspiration. It came out in late 1968, which before now had always been the year my generation recognized as the strangest ever, a puzzling mix of beautiful and brutal. Much like today, 1968 had its share of Blue Meanies, Apple Bonkers, and Flying Gloves.

I'm not saying that by singing “All You Need is Love” we can destroy the maga movement. But I can say that we can sing while we destroy it. And that we can lighten up the miserable gray landscape as we go.

After watching hours of the Beatles, I turned on a couple podcasts. I looked out the window at the frigid weather, with freezing rain coming down. There were eight deer enjoying a meal of the bird food that I dump on the ground daily. Watching the deer, I heard some information about how things are getting worse for the felon, and that this will continue on a steep decline. Thus, I contacted some associates who are far better informed on DC than I. I heard encouraging things that I will post about soon.

Traffic had come to a stop on the roads, as the governor had declared an emergency. After the deer had left to bed down – they do so out near my fire pit – I ventured outside. I love the sound of the frozen water dropping from the sky, some strong wind, and the trees popping. Then it seemed to stop storming, and it became absolutely silent. Despite risking scaring wildlife, I found myself singing “All You Need is Love.”

I am not saying that listening to the Beatles will cure our society's ills. It won't. But I find it helps me as I prepare for 2026. Plus I like Ringo's saying, as it provides me the best option for a response to those ass clowns who are still in the cult.
