Papa Doc Bush stated after the swift victory in Gulf War 1 that America had "kicked the Vietnam syndrome once and for all," signifying the end of national hesitation to use military force, a mindset born from the Vietnam War's trauma. He linked this success to laying "the ghosts of Vietnam to rest beneath the sands of the Arabian desert," asserting a renewed American confidence in military action.

My doctor’s nurse said anytime a Bush was in office, war was around the corner. She and her sisters retired from military service when Baby Doc Bush got selected in 2000.
