Do not tell Trump . . . [View all]

Earlier this evening I read something -- may have been on DU -- about Trump claiming that he had "30-40 million gallons of Venezuelan oil" coming to the US -- or words to that effect.

No doubt he figured that this would translate into 30-40 million gallons of gasoline, thereby starting to drive down the price of gas.

Whatever we do, let's not tell Trump this:

From a standard 42-gallon barrel of crude oil, U.S. refineries produce about 19 to 20 gallons of gasoline, which is roughly 45% of the barrel, with the rest yielding other products like diesel, jet fuel, and asphalt, though yields vary with crude quality and refinery technology.

The U.S. consumes roughly 370 to 380 million gallons of gasoline per day. So -- Trump's 30-40 million gallons of oil will produce 15 - 20 million gallons of gas, which is about one hour's consumption.
