The biggest problem with overtly supporting them is making them look like American stooges. I think this was the worry the Obama administration had in 2009 when there were massive protests. I think he regretted that the US was too passive in its support.

In the other hand, is bombing the country the right way to go? Almost definitely not. And I think there’s way too great a potential of it spiraling out of control, and having it backfire on the movement.

Iran needs a homegrown, organic movement that overthrows the ayatollah and his henchmen. So far, it sounds like what’s happening. I hope Khamenei is brought to justice (Mussolini style) before escaping to Russia. Their rulers are absolutely evil.
