15. I have been married twice. Neither of the women I married

changed their surnames. While that may have confused my mother, who was born in 1924, it had no other effects. But, neither had to get a new driver's license or social security card. They were still who they were all along. They still are.

It's all part of the historical patriarchy, where men take OWNERSHIP of their spouses. The assumption of the man's surname is nothing more or less than that. It's the same as enslaved people assuming the surnames of their owners.

So, I've always been opposed to it. I never had any trouble convincing my wives to avoid that name trap.

Now, the neofascists want to capitalize on this holdover from the dark ages, where women and slaves were just property.

Please don't fall for this if you are a woman. You are who you are, not some piece of property belonging to some man.
