For supporting a US military or Diplomatic presence there. The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, etc.

Donald Trump underestimated the reach Iran has in the region as well as around the world. He did not take that into account from what I am reading via the AP, Reuters, NPR, etc.
