(5,249 posts)I am in therapy, participate in a Patreon chat with a trained Life Coach, and have a wise older sister. They have all basically say the same thing. I did what I could by voting, donating to Democratic candidates and causes, and sharing what my history and political science teachers taught me, about the dangers of narcissistic dictatorships.
Whatever happens at least between now and the elections in November, I have no power over and my worrying over things I can't control, won't do any good. I will only make myself ill, and make it harder on the people and pets I care about, and who care about me in return. They all advise me to stay aware but don't let the anxiety steal away taking joy in what I can in the here and now, and be grateful for whatever days I have left, and not waste them because of worry. It took awhile to accept that advice but I am getting there. It's like scene I saw on one of my favorite shows. The psychiatrist character said "none of us knows how long we have left. I could go to cross the street, and get hit by a bus tomorrow. All that matters is how we spend whatever life we have left."
Don't know if thinking about it that way can help you too.
