The 36,574 dead GI's in Korea & 58,220 dead in Vietnam support that.

Also if Iran was "unconquerable" they would still be practicing Zoroastrianism, not Islam.

Iran has been fully conquered by external powers roughly 3 to 5 major times in its ~3,000-year history, despite its rugged, defensible terrain. Major conquests included Alexander the Great (330 BC), the Arab/Islamic conquest (7th century), the Mongols (13th century), and temporary conquests by Turkic peoples and the Safavids.
