Wife watches a good bit of TV, much of it National Geo, History, etc. I often see or hear tv commercials for The Wounded Warrior Project -- it's a legitimate organization, an Army general with whom I served in Vietnam and later in the Pentagon was executive director for a while. They provide assistance to disabled vets that is beyond what VA does.

At a time like this, with the President getting us into another useless war, I really get pissed off when I see the Wounded Warrior ads. One ad shows a young man -- appears to be in his early 30's, not a scar on him -- both arms, both legs -- yet he cannot walk without a lot of help; his speech is difficult, slurred, slow; his head, feet, and hands roll or jerk around -- victim of TBI -- Traumatic Brain Injury from a roadside bomb. When something like that explodes, victims may be ripped apart or suffer wounds from shrapnel -- or the concussion may slam their head, causing their brain to rattle around in their skull. Not a scar showing but the effect is the same as a debilitating stroke -- a lifetime requiring help for even basic human actions -- talking, eating, toilet . . . .

And the narration says he responded to 9/11 by joining up and serving in Iraq. WHAT A WASTE . . . Dick Cheney lied us into Iraq -- remember "WMD" all over the place, "we know where the WMD are," must shut down Saddam Hussein. The plan was to rid Iraq of the Saddam regime, put our own people in place . . . and, by the way, Halliburton (where Cheney was once CEO) will take over the oil fields. Does any of that shit sound familiar?

"Walking around with no legs." I put kids in medevac Dustoff helicopters in Vietnam with a tourniquet on an arm or a leg - - - or rather, where an arm or leg used to be with them crying, moaning, "What am I gonna do with one leg?". Fuck Cadet Bone Spurs and that cowardly piece of shit in the Pentagon.
