48. Remember Obama nominated Garland instead of a young progressive in order to embarrass the Republicans.

. A sense of shame being a precursor to embarrassment, they saw no constitutional obligation to even schedule a hearing. For Obama it was a throwaway nomination because any nominee of his would have been DOA. Conversely, there was no (good) reason for Biden to pick Garland as AG.
