Let today's election in Hungary be a lesson to the Defeatist Doomers [View all]

For all those who think Trump is omnipotent, and the states, courts and the people are powerless to his whims, including in the upcoming midterm elections, know this:

Viktor Orbán very nearly was omnipotent. His consolidation of power was far more complete and extreme than Trump’s, by light years. He had greater control over the courts, social media, mainstream media, and the election process than Trump does, or could ever dream of.

And yet, his corrupt authoritarian government caused so much widespread suffering (Hungary is the poorest country in the EU) that, in the end, the people rose up, elected his opponent, and removed Orban from power.

And so it will be in the US this November. The corrupt Trump administration has caused so much widespread suffering that increases daily, that republicans are already crossing party lines to vote for Dems in special elections in deep red Trump districts. This trend will continue in November, and the record number of Republicans retiring in congress is a clear sign the GOP knows it.

Those of us in the reality-based community celebrate Magyar’s victory today, and look forward to the brighter future it may bring to the EU, Ukraine, and, of course, Hungary. We know this election is just another sign of the Trump administration’s incompetence and impotence.

Nothing can stop the Blue Tsunami in November.
