What angers me about this is that it was so unnecessary. The mark of a secure leader is generally that they leave well enough alone, improving along the edges without harming that which is already working. Trump is fundamentally insecure, and so he feels compelled to stamp HIS brand on everything, to tear down anything that is not distinctly his, destroying whatever relationships that he didn't make himself.

Couple this with a below average intelligence - I don't think Trump is stupid, but I suspect his intelligence is probably about average, which is dangerous when most people who take the office of President are considerably more intelligent than average - and this means that he really doesn't understand how things are connected to one another while at the same time believing that he is more intelligent than everyone around him.

Finally he has left a trail of disasters behind him as he runs away from them rather than dealing with them, a pattern he's repeated his entire life. Almost everything he does has ended up with him hiring lawyers or others to "fix" the mistakes that he's made, and not surprisingly, he has a long trail of lawyers who have also been burned by him in the process.

I am to this day convinced that Musk and Thiel hacked the election, because I really do not believe that he actually had that much support in 2024.
