I saw a post that showed big holes in the wall of the hotel where officials had cut into --most likely to retrieve the bullets-but can't find it now.

When a bullet or shotgun slug hits a vest, it generally lodges itsin the vest, easily recoverable.

If there's not at least one piece of buckshot, or a .38 Super bullet (what Allen was carrying), it was friendly fire.
