but I'm leaning that the person was so upset with Trump he made that attempt so that is where I'm leaning but it isn't a surprise to see people online considering that possibility.

The reason why is because Russia considered doing the same thing to help Orban in the polls.

Russian intelligence officers allegedly proposed staging an assassination attempt on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, according to a report analyzed by The Washington Post and cited by Hotnews.

The plan was outlined in an internal document from Russia’s foreign intelligence service, the SVR, reportedly authenticated by a European intelligence agency.

The proposal was described as a way to dramatically shift the tone of Hungary’s upcoming parliamentary election on April 12.

I first heard of this reporting on Rachel Maddow so it has been contemplated before to help an ally of Russia but I'm leaning that the person had his own motivations and until more details of the investigation are released.
