But after Biden opened up the Strategic Oil Reserves and broke OPEC in early 2022, it plummeted down to $3.45 on average (in San Diego) within a couple months and wandered around as high as $4.00 at one point but starting around February 2024, prices started sneaking up to a COVID era level $4.70 on average by October / November of 2024. Lots of refineries apparently had problems...as typical during election season.

And the February drop in 2025 only took it down to the cost it was the year prior. Not to the pre-primary levels.

Gee, wonder what was going on in 2024?
