Every single person involved in the region for generations knew the Strait of Hormuz was Iran's ace in the hole, that's why they were so tough to bargain with. But I don't think Iran in their wildest dreams realized how powerful a card to play shutting down the Strait would be. Now that they know it, they're never going to give in and we're going to be giving in to their demands for the next 50 years.

In one act, the US cemented the power structure in Iran for generations. There is no more opposition there and the powers that control Iran now have a way to finance their regime indefinitely and a way to disrupt the global economy if they don't get their way.

Total disaster worse strategically than Iraq IMO.
