in what I call a "closed system". They define themselves by their religion and reject everyone and everything else as "secular".

Trump is simply a conman. He learned a long time ago that embracing the Christian religion could be used as a means of pushing "Christian Nationalism" and thereby securing a loyal, highly motivated voting base in exchange for advancing their religious and cultural agenda.
