3. I didn't grow up with religion, but there was a devout Catholic family in the neighborhood.

Yesterday

The mom was the person you'd go to with a problem that couldn't be discussed in your own family. She was the walking epitome of the Catholic social justice movement of her time. Although the church has lots of sins to atone for, her living example inspired me that, done well, religion could make a difference to society.

So I found his history of that philosophy particularly interesting. He is a deeply learned man.
