2. The status quo satisfies both sides at this point

A trickle of oil, just enough to keep the world functioning. If they completely shut down the flow, we would have to do something, like bomb and/or invade. In reverse order, if we bomb and/or invade first, it would shut down the flow of oil.

This may continue for quite awhile. Neither side has a clear path to improving the situation, and unilateral actions will likely make it worse.
