For one thing, it's best for the world if the Iranian Islamic Republic is at least defanged. They are far right, bigoted, billionaire oligarchs, and they should be opposed by any liberal or progressive. I obviously despise them as I think essentially all of our leaders do.

But the political games Trump can play if a peace plan isn't achieved are, if anything, just as much in his favor as a successful peace plan. Gulf of Tonkin. Rally around the flag, anyone?

Fetterman is saving us from ourselves right now. I imagine our leaders are low key grateful for him taking the lightning bolts. Otherwise, Trump's Iran War would become a major arrow in his political quiver. He'd be stamping his feet and raking in political power like Dubya did during the lying lead up to the Iraq War.
