(115 posts)I get what you are saying. I will say that a child who has tested at profound intelligence or IQ needs constant attention and support. They typically can't walk or talk. Maybe unable to roll over and needs for someone move them. Unable eat on their own probably can swallow as swallowing is a brain stem function and doesn't require brain function. No speech and sometimes are deaf and blind. They have typically no skills. If a child scored profound it couldn't be a standardized score. I'm not familiar with what you are using but looked it up and it appears it helps address learning disabilities. Persons with intellectual disabilities can have a learning disability but smart kids can have a learning disability. IQ isn't necessarily an issue. You may already know this so I apologize if im telling you things you know. On line it also said it helped in determining placement in gifted classes. A really smart kid doesn't need an IQ test unless its required to document eligibility for gifted placement. Their IQ score would be over the average of 100 Also it said cognitive skills. IQ tests will look at whether the child hasn't achieved cognitive skills (age appropriate reading, math skills age appropriate concept development and so further) because of low IQ if this isn't the case then something else is going on and additional testing is needed. If you already knew this then never mind. If not I hope it was helpful. I apologize as I my first response was curt and condescending. My excuse is that I have responded to a lot of what I consider ugly angry responses. I'm afraid I took your response the wrong way. Thank you again for sharing more. It means a lot.
