(2,724 posts)I'm just saying that the things you describe as "typical" are only typical in your own experiences. Many people with significant disabilities are able to accomplish quite a number of things, but again, as I said in my other post, it's all about having access to quality skill training and education.
Sadly those things are often lacking for too many people. We both agree that the general population can do much better with respect to ignoring stereotypes and demanding better services.
Interestingly and as an aside, many of the very old psychology journals used the terms idiot, moron, imbecile, etc. as classifications for severity of disability. That's where many of those terms originated, and sadly we still use them now in ways that often are inappropriate.
Oh, and the orange wannabe warlord isn't low IQ, he's just evil.
