How do we get John Q Public to quit listening to political ads? [View all]

I keep trying to figure out a way to get people to quit watching the crap ads being pushed at us from the oligarchy. They have stupid or nasty adds contradicting anything good this country has or had to offer. It doesn't matter if it has to do with the environment, chemicals in our food, huge inequality in pay between workers and CEO's, over-priced healthcare, stupid vaccine arguments, immigration policy, price gouging at grocery stores, etc. How long will it take people to figure out no one gives a shit about them, particularly the asshats that pay for those political ads. Yet they eat it up like it's heroin and vote for the worst candidate that will do them the most harm - usually a repuglican.
