The artists want non-partisan. Everyone does. Trump's going to use the whole thing to rally his troops for the midterms. He wouldn't have chosen to politicize the whole thing if he didn't have a possible win whichever way things break.

Dems should be coming up with our own patriotic celebration for the 250th. Just keep it non-partisan and entirely pro-America. Partisan sourpusses, LARPers, and attention-starved need not attend. We reclaim the patriotism issue in a walk. We win big.

Or let Trump have a big speech, a rally and fireworks and celebration and do nothing.
