2. The potable water from DC water system

like most major metropolitan areas, adds orthophosphate to the water for lead corrosion control. This is added at concentrations that are ideal for algae growth.

This PhD student in algae growth has an interesting opinion on what happened.

Since I did do my PhD in cyanobacteria growth and treatment optimization modeling AND work in the water treatment industry, I’m gonna share my theory as to what’s happening here and how to fix it.
