28. Are you saying the children of foreign diplomats

Who are born in the United States while their parents are assigned here are US citizens? Anyone with any legal training would tell you they are not.

You can't take two words from an entire sentence and ignore the rest of the words in the sentence. The rest of the words create a clear exception for the children born in the United States to foreign diplomats (who are not subject to the jurisdiction of the US because they are free to rob, rape, and kill, with no legal consequence other than being expelled from the country). So there goes your non-legal understanding that two words, read in isolation, mean there are no exceptions. Because there is one clear, undisputed, exception.

The difference between the two camps at the Supreme Court is whether the exception is limited to children born in the US to foreign diplomats - or also extends to children of those who are not in the United States with the blessing of the law.

I agree with the majority. But your interpretation of two isolated words is not consistent with how legal sausage is made.
